b/w Bittersweet Destiny. Includes code for free downloads. Defend Moscow release their debut single, based on the life of Bolshevik revolutionary and Marxist theorist Leon Trotsky, a dance floor destroying statement of intent, with the idea of being devastatingly betrayed at a deserved moment of glory (your typical pop song about love and heartache then). Born through a chance meeting between friends Jon Beck (vocals) and Dave Fawbert (guitar/synths/programming), and Norwegian siren Sofie Storaas (vocals) in Bergen Norway a year ago, the three bonded over a shared love of classic and contemporary electro, pop and indie, and Russian vodka. The line-up was completed when drummer Adam Pickering and Parisian bassist Rick Elmos joined the ranks and Defend Moscow immediately set to work writing tunes which recall the likes of New Order, Human League, Pet Shop Boys, as well as their modern contemporaries New Young Pony Club and Ladyhawke. Despite being very much in their infancy, Defend Moscow have already clocked up support slots with Sam Sparro, The Wombats, Sneaky Sound System and Team Waterpolo.
